long drive

After 2 days of long drives, we’re finally here in North Carolina. Not much too say about the drive down except it was really, REALLY long. We stopped for the night in DC (where we got a free upgrade to a huge suite at our hotel, sweet!) and took a really early morning walk to see some of the memorials and monuments. The girls were troopers during the 10+ hour drive, but we were all sick of the car and our bodies were stiff from sitting far too long by the very end. The house we rented for our family reunion (on Mark’s dad’s side) is ridiculous. You know in the Real World how all the cast members get to the house in the first episode and explore the house? Yeah…it’s a little bit like that.

Which end of the OBX are you staying on? We usually hang out in Nag’s Head when we go down there. The girls might like the little aquarium over in Manteo too.
Oh my goodness. You must take route 13 and not 95 on the way back (unless you already have plans to stay in dc). It is faster and much more interesting. I wouldn’t call it scenic but you drive through all of these little towns that are really memorable. And there are some great fish shack type places to stop at along the way as well. I can send/post if you’d like. This will be my 37th year making the trip from metro NYC for summer vacation so feel strongly enough to actually comment!
Im getting ready for a car trip from Miami beach to new Orleans , with my three children … You inspired me!
Jenna, how did you make the photos look so 70′s????!
Very nice photos, I ask the same question as Janine.
Oh how I love long drives and road trips… beautiful!
… love your pictures from the trip. Can´t wait to come in summer to the East Coast.
Have a wonderful stay!
beautiful photos!
We just had our family trip at the Outer Banks too! Nags Head has a nice little seafood spot called Tortuga’s Lie. It’s delicious!
If you’re driving through DC again and need local suggestions on where to eat downtown, I can recommend a few places.
The photos are from Instagram app through my iphone
I can actually feel your journey through this composition. I love it!
