a rooftop party in williamsburg

We’ve become one of those parents. oh you know, the ones who bring their kids to parties where there are no other kids. But we aren’t totally obnoxious like that. We cleared it first with the hosts. The hosts being gojee.com – have you heard of it? It’s a recipe database culled from a network of food bloggers, and oh look, here’s our goofy photo.
Anyway, getting back to this party in Williamsburg, on a rooftop where many vegetables and fruits were being grown in containers, delicious tacos, homemade chips and salsa was served. The girls ate a million tortillas and had a blast riding around this old tricycle they found. They created this game and rode a hundred laps around the roof in hysterical laughter. Mia even told her first party joke which wasn’t intended to be a joke, but she answered a question as only a kid could. “How many feet in a yard?”, she was asked. “Depends on how many people are standing in it”, she answered.
When the sky turned dark and it was time to go home, they didn’t want to go. Party animals.

LOL
loved the joke !!
Gosh..how i miss NYC and those rooftop parties…
hahah… Mia, you made my dull tuesday afternoon a little brighter now. I was laughing out loud when i read the answer and imagine my department as quiet as a library!
the ‘joke’ is too cute! i was always the only kid at the parties my parents went to. i loved it
How lovely! I think it’s so essential to take kids to adult gatherings so that they learn to interact with people who are not their own age.
Also, this has made me rethink my plan for my upcoming birthday party! Maybe a taco bar is in order!
tee hee, your tales of being a mom inspire me! I am a new mom and am still figuring out how to be “cool”
Thanks for the blog, love it!
Love her joke, hehe!! Great answer Mia. I think the photo of you two is great by the way!
My husband and I are totally that set of parents now too, who bring their kid to parties. Someone commented on our 2 1/2 year old the other day, “He’s so much cooler now that he can walk around and talk.” It struck me then how much we had brought him around all of our friends.
that view and garden.. wow. i live in park slope and feel lucky to have a nice outdoor space.. but dang, i wish it had a view.
What an awesome setting for a party! Thanks for the link to gojee, too–I hadn’t heard of it before and am always on the lookout for a new recipe.
I hate to bring it up so early … but do you have plans to create a 2012 wall poster calendar?
That is the cutest and funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time!! I’d love to re-tell the joke, but something tells me it won’t it won’t get the same response, coming from a grown women, especially one that doesn’t look like your adorable Mia..
Im trying to remember the hilarious joke Mia made up at the lake about Deadman’s float…
wow Jenna, what a beautiful post. Your photographs are always breathtaking – the food, the lighting, the setting – the whole party looks great! Rooftop parties are just so great aren’t they; feels like a stolen hideaway, somewhere far out of the reach of real world. Looks like you guys had a blast.
Aw looks like you guys had a ton of fun! Might need to do a repeat this fall when I am in NYC!
Delicious shoots of the food!
Wow, I would have loved to have been there!
I love it. What bright and beautiful girls you have.
Scenes like this make me wish I lived in an urban setting. Looks like a great party!
It looks like a great party! I can totally remember these “adult” parties when I was a child. Inventing games and going to bed super late!, haaa freedom! I loved it. My mom used to take me to dinners and stuff and I remember enjoying the company of adults.
Such a great answer from Mia… wisdom from the mouths of babes. Loved the party pictures. Have a fun vacation, Jenna…
excellent joke… would it be wrong to try it out on people at my next dinner party?! the picture of you guys on the website profile is great. I love your haircut jenna!
Love love loving these photos! You really captured that dusk in August feeling.
I know I say this pretty much every single time, but I can’t believe how much Mia is growing up. And Claudine is right behind her! Also loving the run of posts on their kiddo way of doing things.
Thanks for sharing, enjoy the vaycay!
amazing rooftop! jealous
super cute
