I started a new Instagram account just for art a few months ago. The idea to create a separate account was not without much consideration since I didn’t want to be spending any more time on Instagram than I already was. But I must admit – it’s nice to see all the work grouped together in one place. I also wanted something to hold me accountable since my intention is to draw or paint a few times a week and track progress, but I find it nearly impossible to keep up when my workload becomes tough. Posting in the last 6 weeks have been sparse because of deadlines, but I hope to start it up again this summer. I admire people who can find time to do those daily art challenges, but I wonder how useful an exercise that is for me. I will acknowledge, however, that the routine of daily practice (in anything) is pretty key in keeping the momentum up – that’s been fairly clear to me as I try to find the rhythm to draw again on a regular basis – but even these small steps, no matter how slow the progress feels, is something that I shouldn’t underestimate. Given life’s challenges, any time for personal work feels like a big win.
It’s funny how maintaining another Instagram account takes up more time than you think it would. Your ever evolving creative energy truly inspires me! Keep up the amazing work, Jenna!
Thanks so much Joo!
