apple bran muffins

Muffins used to be the one thing that I could make for breakfast that everyone in the family would go crazy for. Banana muffins, bran muffins, even chunky apple cranberry muffins, they would always be a hit. So with my recent apple surplus from apple picking I figured everyone would love some apple bran muffins. But no, they were met with little excitement and were not devoured like they used to be. I used to make muffins all the time, but they have fallen out of the rotation during the past few months, so maybe they just need some getting used to again. Or maybe this batch just wasn’t the best. I’m going to try a new recipe next time, probably one with molasses – I think molasses is a key ingredient in a good bran muffin, so these apple bran muffins might make an appearance again.

    i can’t bake a good muffin for the life of me. i love blue sky muffins in your hood, have you tried them?

    We haven’t – like most other food, we never really buy baked goods, but yeah, muffins seem to be a bit tricky. Congrats on your LLC by the way!

    Awww Mark – any time I make something and my family rejects it I feel like it’s a personal sleight! I like the idea of apple bran muffins though so I might try and make some.

    Am I right in thinking that what you call molasses, we call treacle? Black, very thick syrup? We also have golden syrup which is more honey-coloured and sweeter than treacle.
