Like many crafters and bloggers, I ordered a copy of Lena Corwin’s book, Printing by Hand, soon after it was released. It came today and instead of doing the mountains of work that I need to do, I’ve been thumbing through this book for the last half hour. The photos are so beautiful that it makes you want to drop whatever it is you’re doing and play with patterns and printing.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve had any time to draw and it made me realize when, 2 months ago I had a little bit of unexpected free time to doodle away, how special it was. I mentioned in the gobbl.com interview that I want to expand the company to include some printed kitchen accessories as well as some other crafty stuff. That’s been the plan all along, but how will I have the time? I have to work on client design work to make money which results in little time to do much else but making sure that the biz runs smoothly at its current state. Without having the time to focus on it, however, I can’t experiment on growing the brand (or even make our site e-commerce ready, which has felt like an albatross around my neck of things I HAVE to get done by Fall). One day I shall get to it all. Perhaps when the kids go to school (please, parents of school-age kids, don’t tell me this is not true. Please let me hold on to this fantasy).
