As much as I love a good bowl of noodles, given the choice, I’ll almost always choose sushi over noodles, which is what I did when my dad took us out to lunch on my birthday. I can’t help it. Sushi rules.
And after years of hearing about the hype and countless exasperated cries of “what? You haven’t eaten there yet?!”, I finally went to Momofuku with my friends Catherine and Nichole last Friday night. I know that my opinion won’t be that popular, but I didn’t experience the euphoric culinary bliss that so many people speak of. Maybe it’s precisely because there’s been so much hype surrounding it that I was let down. Don’t get me wrong – it was delicious and if we were going out to dinner and you really wanted to go to Momofuku, I won’t turn you down, but you know, after all that, it was…fine.
(btw, sometimes I can’t get over the perfect round-ness of Claudine’s face.)
Happy Birthday! Glad your site is back up. I missed it.
What restaurant is that. That looks like a East lunch box, but the decor doesn’t.
Food looks great! Um, is C’s hair getting lighter too?
Happy birthday. 🙂
i wholeheartedly agree with the momofuku sentiment. overhyped, underdelivered.
absolutely beautiful blog and photos btw, found you via design*sponge.
haha.. that’s what my husband commented too. C has round eyes and nose : ) Her face is like a little round ball.
true, sushi rules!
that snap of claudine is amazing.
both girls are beautiful! so glad that your site is back up!
Boy, Claudine’s mouth is just exactly like you and your mom’s! I really like the picture of Mia and your dad…such a good moment between them.
I can’t get over the perfection of both your girls – they are so incredibly beautiful!! and I also love the sushi shot. xox
oh and the feed link doesn’t seem to be working and when i subscribed via google reader (how i had before) the feeds were really wonky and didn’t contain anything.
Your pics make both noodles and sushi look so yummy, but I agree – sushi wins!
What cute kids you have!
where are you eating? the food looks delicious.
Hello, stumbled upon your blog and loving your foodie writes and posts about your gorgeous daughters! 🙂
