a weekend outside

March 8, 2009 |  Category:   family nyc outings

Finally. But it was almost too warm too soon. We left the apartment Saturday morning for an excursion to the Prospect Park Zoo and within a block, started taking off our coats, vests and sweaters, only to haul it with us for the rest of the day. We gave the girls the choice between the zoo or the aquarium and of course got indecisive flip flopping, so we chose the cheaper option (it’s the recession, damn it). I love how Claudine will look over at her big sister to see what she’s doing and try and imitate her. It seriously killed me when she peered over at Mia and then put her hand up to her face after they both plopped down on the bag at the bus stop, all the while glancing over to see if she was “doing it right”. Mia looked appropriately bored, but little C looked so funny with that little hand on her face, as she sort of missed the whole point of leaning on your hands when you’re waiting around with nothing to do.

Ok, so I know that the weekend was just one big tease to better days as it’s supposed to get colder and wetter this week and next, but still, the whole world was outside. But it was weird to run around in a t-shirt feeling even too hot at times, and see chunks of snow and ice in parts of the zoo. Can you believe we were blanketed with nearly a foot of snow just 5 days ago? What the hell, weather, what else you got up your sleeve?

The pictures of C mimicking M perfectly capture that little sister devotion. I have noticed in videos of them that C will watch M very closely….so endearing!!!

The first photos are completely precious and I love the one of Claudine looking at the lizard. It’s so wonderful to see things through a child’s eyes (with a fresh perspective on the world).

And yes, it felt freakishly warm.

tee hee. C is so cute. That hand over her face is too much! Yeah. can’t believe it’s going to be raining all week. but have to say, it’s nice to walk around not feeling totally frozen when it is 20s!

i particularly love the second shot of the girls, with claudine actually hanging a bit of ‘weight’ into her pose, yet still not resting her elbows on her knees.

my kids are three years apart as well, but a year younger than yours (also half korean, btw.)

Oh my gosh, you have to print out all these photos and start a scrapbook. Mia and Miss C will treasure these shots in the future and share them one day with their own children

Cute pictures! I love the ducks walking on the ice. Saturday was so beautiful in NY! I had my first iced coffee of the year while walking the dog. So bummed that the cold weather is upon us again 🙁

they are too cute for words 🙂 you can definitely tell that Claudine is only half-knowing the whole concept of leaning on your hand thing… and mia is gorgeous… lucky you..

Your daughters are so very adorable! We’ve already had to turn on our AC a couple of times. March is perfect weather here but the crazy hot days are on their way. Bleh.
