I will never get tired of the mountain view from the airplane, heading into Washington state, ever. We are here.
Mark’s mom let a stray cat that had been hanging around for awhile into her home a few days ago. She then had kittens, 6 of them. They are a day old and the girls were so excited to see them. They decided to name them on the car ride down from the airport. So far we have Shadow, Shimmer (Mia’s choices) and Molly and Alice (Claudine’s name picks).
The girls made a beeline for the wild, rambling blackberry bushes growing in the side of the yard at Mark’s mom’s house in Olympia. Instant berry stained hands and faces. I’m sure there will be plenty of berry picking everyday.
Also, the kids were champion airplane travelers. So quiet and well behaved. The time difference did not seem to affect them – they went to sleep past midnight New York time. I think they were too excited to be here.
i cannot wait to hear what other kitten names they come up with!
also – i always feel the same about flying into portland. it’s just so beautiful with all the trees.
wow love the view! A visually cooling photo for my prune-dry days here in Dubai… Gah!
Happy Holidays 🙂
Gorgeous photos as usual Jenna.
I grew up just outside of Olympia and my memories of picking blackberries on my grandparents fence in the summer are some of the best I have. Summer in the PNW is SO incredible.
Between living in New York and having family in the Northwest, your girls really do get the best of both worlds.
Thanks for my heart warm of the day. I hope you guys have a fantastic time on your trip!
I so glad you all are already in vacation mode! How nice it is (in some ways, but not in others) to have family spread out across this huge country.
Also…KITTENS! It’s hard to imagine anything more adorable to see upon arriving at one’s destination. (That little pink foot pad! OMG!)
Um, make that “I’m so glad…”. Clearly I was in Neanderthal mode when I started that sentence.
That is a gorgeous view. I would spend every day picking blackberries if they were in my yard too. I bet Mark has fond berry picking memories. Love the kitty names.
We’ve been picking blackberries almost every day – the boys actually wanted to bring a ladder out last night to get the high ones.
Those kittens are incredible!! Welcome to Washington.
And you’ve arrived just in time for the cooler weather….and kittens! Oh how fun!
Gah! Blackberries! So jealous…:) Enjoy!
I will never get over that view either. I grew up with a view of Mt. Rainier out of our living room. It’s amazing to me now that I could watch the sunsets turn it pink in the summertime. So beautiful.
Have fun! Say hi to Seattle for me. I recognized Mount Rainier immediately, as I used to see it from my office at work everyday. Well, clear days at least. 🙂 ahh can’t wait to see more photos. I miss it.
Enjoy your trip!
I just returned home from my first trip to Seattle. . .just got off the plane a few hours ago. I was happy to experience the cooler weather today (it was pretty hot nearly the entire time we were there. . much to my dismay).
