Last summer, we made a plan to take evening walks after dinner. We weren’t too successful in keeping the promise so we vowed to try to take as many family evening walks this summer. There have been a few, but can’t say that we are any more successful this year than last. For one, now that Claudine is mostly walking (just got rid of our double stroller!) she thinks she can just run down the street without us. Never mind the tantrum that followed after Mark caught up with her one evening after we went for ice cream. I remember when Mia was a runner at this age – she’d take off, particularly in the meadow during a picnic at the park, and then I’d have no choice but to leave Claudine, then a baby, on the blanket unattended to run after her. She outgrew this eventually, but I had forgotten about this little burst of defiance until Claudine started the same behavior. Fun times.
terrifying! I don’t know what I would do! [not being a mom yet, this totally scares me!]
It has been really sweet watching your girls this summer. That first photo is adorable, the legs crossed, the skinned knees, the ice cream, le sigh. You do make having children look fun!
I was about the type almost the exact thing as amanda. I love that first photo, add to her list – the ice cream on her dress and on the wrong end of the spoon, how sweet!
I wish we weren’t on opposite coasts – I’d love to join you. We do an evening walk most nights; the only way I can get Cal to come sometimes is bribery of ice cream at the halfway point.
yea, i’m not looking forward to that part…
but i love her dress, it’s so adorable.
The first photo, with her legs crossed…so adorable!
Oh no! Kendall has the same dress as Claudine. Too cute!
oh i remember when M did that. 🙂 how time flies.
yah. evening walk has been fun over here. so funny how A wants to run all the time.
yeah – fun times (I have twin boys and I remember there were a couple months were they’d both take off – separate directions of course – and I was left trying to figure out who I had to run after first).
That said, the crossed legs – soo cute. Funny that she does that even though she is so young. I’m sure the girls are very happy to go for evening walks if it involves ice cream 🙂
Oh when I read your post I was imaging the scene of Claudine…These kids…..:-) I loved the crossed legs! So cute.
I liked the crossed legs too…but also check out C craning her neck to see what M is eating. That expression kills me! I didn’t notice the ice cream on the end of the spoon…that’s funny, too.
your guest post on decor8 led me to your blog and i just had to tell you how lovely it is! what beautiful little girls!
such cuteness! i love the younger child’s expression in the second photo!
I laugh when I see kids on leashes, but you know, they may just have a use…
