food, coffee, family, seattle

Have you ever noticed when on vacation that the first few days feel like you’ve been away from home for an eternity? Then somewhere after the midway point, time speeds up and you feel like holding on to the last few days because it’s suddenly going too fast. We kept saying yesterday that we couldn’t believe we were on a plane just 24 hours before because we felt like we’ve been in Seattle already for a week. So far in the first 2 days we’ve eaten a lot of seafood, drank a lot of coffee, walked for miles and hugged a lot of family.

I guess there has been more humid than usual summer weather this year because we felt some moisture in the air that we normally don’t feel on the day we arrived. Still, we pulled on hoodies as soon the shady areas outnumbered the sunny spots on the sidewalks. Usually we come to Seattle with our days planned, but this year we’re just floating. As long as the girls can spend as much time with their aunt and grandma as possible, they are happy. Mia is making breakfast for us every morning and washing the dishes after every meal. Hmmm….wonder why she doesn’t do this at home.

Oh, Skillet! This makes me so happy I’m going home this weekend. Check out Ma’ono in West Seattle if you have time, it’s glorious.

How fun that you’re here in Seattle! I was just at Skillet on Saturday morning and had the Little Rob, satisfying all cravings.

Totally agree about the weird vacation time thing. Although I haven’t been on vacation in forever, I also make breakfast and do the dishes every day (I’m in high school) (:

I miss the Pacific NW! So keep these posts coming. It’s been a few years since i lived there and of course there was Asia in between, but DC feels just so opposite from that place. Enjoy!

I’ve been reading your blog for a few years now, when I lived in New York. I think it has subconsciously made me want to visit Seattle in August. I’ve finally done it!

Hope you had a good visit, Claire!

Hi Jenna, so glad you are enjoying Seattle. Have you ever been to Bainbridge Island? The ferry ride over is gorgeous, and the town is quite charming. Pegasus Coffee down by the harbor, has delicious coffee and food. The Pub, next door, is great for lunch too. I lived on the island for many years, and always recommend a trip to visitors.
I love reading your blog, and the glimpse into New York life. Have a great trip!

We were there once briefly, a few years ago, but had to go straight from the ferry to the clinic there and then back on the ferry to Children’s Hospital ER. I have a friend who lives there, so hopefully we will get there again sometime.

All the food in this post looks so delicious, I want to try to create at home! Also, I think the Central Library there might be my favorite building in the world. Love the photos!
