the washington coast, ruby beach

September 2, 2013 |  Category:   family life Seattle & the NW travels

One of the great things about our annual Pacific Northwest trips are the mini trips that we often plan within our vacations. Since we come out here every year to visit and stay with family, we like to revisit places that we haven’t been to in 20 years and we get to share some of these places with our girls. This year we decided to drive to the Washington coast. A road trip! Driving our cousin’s big van with family, the trunk filled with suitcases and food, we set out for a 5 day adventure.

Ruby Beach was our first stop on our way to our final destination. We ate brie and pear sandwiches and explored the beach while we had a break from the misty rain. It would be our only dry day on the coast. More photos to come…

A huge fan of your blog and I’m loving these posts! We are a Queens family transplanted from the PNW (we even met at TESC) and these are a nice antidote to the hot and humid weather in the NE right now. Have a great trip!

hi Erin! Oh, Mark and I met at TESC too – or did you mean that you met one of us at TESC once?

Hi Jenna! Ha, I meant we met each other at Evergreen while at “band camp” 🙂 Although if either of you worked there during the summer long ago we may have met you as well!

wow, so much to like here! a west coast girl myself i’m firmly of the opinion that this is exactly what a day at the beach should look like–all shades of gray and silver. and there’s something so satisfying about those stacks of smooth stones. great shots, kudos!

Brie and Pear sandwiches sound awesome!
Great photos, as usual. Whenever I see misty photos of the Northwest coast I always get an urge to re-watch The Goonies.

Oh Ruby Beach! We were just there in June and it’s just so spectacular. Thank you for sharing your wonderful images. My cell phone pics are still stunning because it’s RUBY BEACH, but yours are just so lovely.
