eating and gathering

People are usually fascinated by the fact that Mark is a chef (and a Pastry chef who can cook other things besides pastries). But the funny thing is, many people admit they are afraid to cook for us (so they say) so it’s not often that we get asked over for dinner. For some reason last weekend we got invited to not 1, but 3 meals. It was a very social weekend and one that we very much was looking forward to after being pretty much socially-deprived all of December. I don’t really take much stock in New Year’s resolutions, but I do want to make a point of seeing friends more often this year. It’s a good start. Thank you James and Rachel (yes, M is still talking about the latkes!), Unha and Kenny (their place pictured here), and Julian and Laura.

I agree….seeing more friends is a worthwhile resolution. I think I’ll adopt it, too.

I miss Unha’s blog. Tell her she’s missed.

I’m a chef, too, and never get invited to people’s houses for dinner. Or I do and then they spend the evening apologizing for the food and pointing out their mistakes.
People also tend to assume that I eat nothing but truffles and $200 vinegar. Um, folks? I like mac ‘n’ cheese, too. From a box, even!

    Jenna and Mark,

Just stumbled upon your site via Apartment Therapy. Wanted to let you know how much I’ve enjoyed reading/viewing the site so far. Gorgeous, gorgeous girls and I find the presentation of everything on your sites so very aesthetically pleasing. I will continue to check back/stalk. 🙂 Have a happy new year.

jenna: next time, it’s thematic potluck!

anna : yeah. i have to admit, when i was cooking, i couldn’t help but think “woo. what can i do to IMPRESS mark the chef?” i almost asked him, “so what do you think? is it good, huh? huh? huh?” right as he was having the first bite. and then i thought that’s too goofy. ^_^

annie : oh! thanks. it is indeed coming. very soon!
