a calendar back in the house

I love calendars. Formally, I love the organization of the grid and the typography of the numbers. Strangely, I have not had a calendar up in the house in years. I haven’t even made my annual monthly planner purchase from Muji this year, which is strange because it’s a ritual I look forward to every year before the new year begins. I need my calenders to be in a monthly grid view when I need it to function – I get lost with a weekly or daily layout, removed from the context of the 28-31 square grid – but graphically, I appreciate looking at the organization of time in a new way. I was immediately smitten with Miriam Bereson’s wall planner and blogged about it on Babygadget. In late December I was lucky enough to have a complimentary planner sent to me from the designer and even a mini version which I hung in Mia’s room. Yay, a calendar back in the house! With so many affordable and wonderful calenders from designers to choose from these days, I think this might be my new ritual.

Hey, I hear ya… I couldn’t function without my monthly grid in front of me… Surprising to me how THROWN OFF I was when Wednesdays switched places on my calendar, one slot over. Jeez…

What a great calendar! If I wasn’t inundated with more calendars than I have space for, I’d get one. Maybe next year.

What a cute and clever planner!
Perhaps when you have time to take it on and would want to at some point, it could be neat for you to design a calendar for yourself to use, or even work on one with the girls.
