January is typically our R&D month since it’s a month where we can catch our breaths, but Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so we’re scrambling a bit. Stay tuned…

Oh, by the way, I changed some things around on the blog, but they are subtle changes that might go unnoticed which reminds me that as designers, we might fuss and fidget with details for hours and days and not have it mean anything to anyone but ourselves, lol.

“as designers, we might fuss and fidget with details for hours and days and not have it mean anything to anyone but ourselves”

Exactly!! It looks fantastic though… I love how understated but sunny the blog is. It really compliments all the great photos you guys take. Good luck with the upcoming holiday! Those hearts look delicious 🙂

    Jenna,
I noticed that you had changed it right away! My two cents is that you should make “sweet fine day” a little larger, to stand out more. It just gets kind of lost up there. Sorry, If I am over stepping….I feel like part owner of it because I enjoy your blog so much. Your photography and stories are wonderful! I look forward to a new adventure everyday. I had no idea of what Brooklyn was like and now I feel I have almost been there. And SFD cookies are fantastic. I even saved the box and label. You two work so hard and I wish you all the best in the new year. You are great examples for your girls too.

I love the all caps for the titles and the resizing on the photos takes things to a whole new level. LOVE.

Some of us spend too much time here and do notice. At least that’s what I hear. Hey, if you’re going to be going to the flea this season could you post which days? I’d like to brave the outdoors and check the new location out and say hi… don’t wanna be annoying Mark with, “Where’s Jennaaaaaa, why didn’t she come?”

LOL, just when I thought I’d get back on the healthier eating track you come out with more cookies.

  • Nina January 11, 2010 at 10:35 am

Love the heart shaped cookies! I’m sure it’l be a hit!

It’s like playing that game where you have two images that are very similar side by side and you have to spot the changes… i’ve caught three: “sweet fine day” logo is smaller and new, small cap titles and something about the columns/image sizes. how’d I do? 😉
    ps. looks tight!

Looks beautiful and delicious. Warm greetings.

Bess, you got 2 things right. the columns and image sizes didn’t change (so funny Annie that you thought the same thing). The little doohicky illustration above the “sweets craft food design” went away. No more curly brackets on the yellow headers in the left column (also more letter spacing). “Who are we text” is rewritten. etsy mini went away, replaced by image that links to our site. Purple “posted by…comments” link turned grey. Comments are laid out different with date after author, not before (also smaller font size) and more space above and below the dotted line. “Older” and “Newer” post links are yellow, not purple, and placed with left and right justification. Plus a few miniscule things that no one else would ever notice. Whew!!

Strange, I thought the photos looked bigger too!

It feels more spacious, anyway. I’m enjoying the multiple photos with almost every post.

    Oooo, those cookies are gorgeous!

  • Stella January 12, 2010 at 4:02 pm

Heart shaped cookies- oh my! 🙂
And I like the title font adjustment here- nice!

I noticed straightaway 🙂 I’m just one of those sneaky regular readers who rarely comments 😉

I thought I’d comment this time though, as I agree with Sherry. The first thing I noticed was that ‘sweet fine day’ had lost some of it’s impact. From memory it was previously a more solid typeface? Perhaps as you are going with a script-like typeface, it needs to be made a little larger as Sherry suggested.

All the rest of your changes look fantastic 🙂

I’ve felt so remorseful since I pressed the send button! What a clod! Please forgive me. It’s a BEAUTIFUL font and color, looks like it might be written in “sweet, fine”, baker’s sugar. You can almost see it twinkle. Perfect!

  • Jenna January 14, 2010 at 12:06 am

    Sherry, don’t worry about it!!
