a bad day after a good one

I think it’s somewhat safe to say without jinxing ourselves that we’re a pretty healthy family. The kids hardly ever get sick which is pretty rare when you have little ones, and with the exception of a few quick colds, Mark and I have somehow managed to to be completely sick-free the last couple of years. I don’t even believe Mark has ever called in sick when he was working as a chef in restaurants (and calling in sick isn’t something you do in the biz anyway, unless you’re actually in the hospital or on your deathbed). I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’re both rather sick at the moment – but strangely with different symptoms – because we’ve been working non-stop and we’re pretty run down. Our luck has run its course and the timing couldn’t be any lousier. We struggled to get through the day yesterday quite miserably and also decided to pull out of a Valentine’s Day market in Williamsburg this Saturday. I hate being a flake, but we couldn’t see any way around it. We’re both tired and now, behind.

Just goes to show you that life can kick you in the ass at times least expected.

Oh bummer, would have definitely stopped by to say hello if you were in the neighborhood (what market was it)? Hope you feel better!

Oh yuck! I hope you guys feel better. Sickness always tends to occur at the least convenient times. And with little ones, you aren’t permitted to rest which makes the recovery that much worse.

Never underestimate the ease of jinxing yourself and how sensitive the flu/[fill in illness here] gods are (this just very recently happened to us where P caught croup and I spiked a fever and turned into a flem factory just after I was stupidly bragging about how good her immune system is. Suffice to say, I will NEVER blaspheme again). Shh shhh…it’s almost over. Hang in there!

i don’t think you jinxed yourselves — it is just nature’s way of letting you know you need to take a break…take care of yourselves and try to enjoy some down time? (i know it’s easier said than done with small children and self-employment — i definitely sympathize! take care)

Pam, I know what you mean. Mia got a stomach bug the day before I told my mom that the girls never catch anything that goes around. Talk about jinxing that one.
Jennifer, we were going to do artist & fleas. We’re scheduled to do the dumbo Flea starting next weekend, though.

I’m so sorry to hear you’re sick, just when you’re so busy! The valentine’s cookies I ordered for my sister came today and I can’t wait to give them to her! My thanks to you & Mark for all your work and creativity – but please take care of yourselves!

you guys need a break. Take one after Valentine’s. Get out of the city and go somewhere quiet where something else can preoccupy you. news about the economy, thinking about business, etc etc really wears down on people.
