a bit of normalcy

From the sounds of it, this week was a shitty week for a lot of people. I don’t know what’s going on in the universe, but I think we’re all due for some good luck all around. Maybe as we shut the door on February this weekend, we can leave all the bad stuff behind as we head into March. Oh, did you know that were in the middle of a blizzard again today? Snow day, and the schools are closed as of this morning which leaves working parents all over the city scrambling to make arrangements.

But things are feeling a bit more normal around here. For one, Mark is back! He decided to leave early to dodge the snowstorm and we’re all glad he did because the snow is killer. His dad seems to have stabilized somewhat, though he has a long way to go and will be in the hospital for quite a while so we’re all glad to have him back. We need him here. I’m still not in great shape and I’d taken on freelance work this week with killer deadlines because we really need the money. So for now, chasing the non-corporate dream is put on hold. You gotta do what you gotta do to put food on the table, buy medicine and pay for co-pays at the doctor’s office, take your kid to ballet classes and buy presents for all the birthday parties coming up (soooo many birthdays).

And yes, the bob and bangs are back. No more Shaun Cassidy hair for little C.

god I love those bangs! my grammy used to cut mine at that age and they would always be too short and I would cry like a baby and my mom would yell: “why are you always trimming her bangs!?!”

I think Feb. is a shit month all around. hang in there…here comes March!

You go, Jenna. I’m not really a tattoo person but I saw a tattoo yesterday, Japanese characters, I think, and the guy told me that it stood for an old Japanese phrase that translates roughly into “Fall down seven times. get up eight”. Once I googled it, I guess it’s quite a common phrase, even used in Nike commercials (lame!), but…still. I love, love, love, love the thought that the person who keeps getting up will eventually be the winner.
And this week, solo parenting, sick, probably tired, you got off the mat and stood up for the eighth time, and took some freelance jobs because that’s what it takes. Thatta girl!
PS Continue to send best wishes for Mark’s dad.

I agree that February was poopy all around 🙁 But glad to hear Mark made it back safely and his dad has stabalized. Good luck with all the snow, the 2 ft we had in Ohio is finally melted down to about 6 inches lol.

Glad to hear that Mark’s Dad is at least a bit better, Miss Jenna. I never look at the gorgeous pics of your little lovelies or read your words that I am not endlessly and humbly inspired by all of you.

    Happy snowy weekend! 🙂

I’m glad your family had a chance to be together before the storm hit. And I agree with you about the universe even the weather seems to be confused!

Yes, it’s pretty shitty even in CA. I don’t know what’s been going on this past week, but I’m glad to know I’m not alone in feeling this way. I hope you’re right, that with the close of Feb, we can expect more good luck in March. Please Universe, please listen to our pleas.

I’m so happy to hear that your father in law is stabilizing and that your hubby is back home with you and your beautiful daughters.
