around the neighborhood

April 16, 2012 |  Category:   life nyc

The cherry blossoms are at near peak. We love standing under the big cherry trees in the neighborhood surrounded by pink fluffiness. The flowers are outrageous.

86 degrees today. Also kind of outrageous. I don’t even know with this weather. But at least the trees are catching up and starting to bloom and green because it was so weird to have such warm weather with the starkness of bare winter branches. Just didn’t match up.

And look, happy people all around enjoying the sunshine and spring (faux summer). Sometimes the beauty of our neighborhood catches me off guard. I do often just roll my eyes in amusement whenever the neighborhood gets parodied or ridiculed, mostly because of the left wing liberal shenanigans of some, or you know, this (a lot of it is deserved – hey, I can laugh at this. I mean it’s not really funny, but it’s sort of funny. People who actually know us…god, do we come across this way? Punch me if we do), but then I think, oh, they’re just jealous they don’t live here. Yeah, that must be it (haha).

As an outsider (and foreigner) I’m glad that you live where you live and the beauty you show us daily. I actually gasped when those first images of pink blossoms start loadin’!!!

I just love cherry blossoms. You do live in a beautiful neighborhood. It seems no matter where you are, spring sunshine makes people ridiculously happy.

I just watched the video – so funny! I feel like you could have replaced Park Slope with my neighborhood in South Philadelphia (we are starting a co-op!) Great stuff.

You have a beautiful neighborhood indeed! Since moving to the Northeast, I’m thrilled to be living around all this color!

I had a similar experience on Sunday at my friend’s birthday picnic in Central Park. I kept looking around and smiling at everyone, totally amazed that this is where we live. And you know what? Sometimes it’s so, so, SO hard to live here. When we have those moments of “Holy crap this place is so beautiful” and of feeling lucky to inhabit such a weird and glorious city I think it is truly well deserved.

Ahhhh! This entire post reminds me of my old neighbourhood in Toronto. High Park. There is an actual park with Cherry blossoms and oh man that moment she is yelling ta her kids to stop jumping…I remember getting that from my mom as a child. We lived on the 3rd floor of the Toronto equivalent of a Brownstone so we had to keep quiet until noon.
