Blood moon, new site.

Did you see it? The eclipse? I know – old news, but that’s kind of how we’re operating around here these days. We promised the girls we’d wake them up if it was clear enough to see the eclipse since the clouds were threatening our view all day, but when we actually ran back inside to wake them, they weren’t having it. They were asleep like logs. Apparently the kids in school were all talking about it the next day and later, Miss C told me she woke up at 4am, ran to the window and took a photo of the moon with her Kindle and went back to bed. I don’t know why, but I found that so endearing. They’ll have to wait another 30 years to see a blood moon eclipse, which will make them about our age. Ironically, Mark remembers being a kid too, and missing the eclipse because he was dead asleep.

I’ve seen a total lunar eclipse once before during my college years. I was in the middle of nowhere in Canada, camping with a bunch of people. Couldn’t pick it out on a map if I tried. There were a lot of French speaking Canadians, so somewhere near Montreal maybe, or Quebec, and near a river is all I remember. College-era haziness. There are a number of places that remain mysterious like that. Wouldn’t know how to get back to them even if I wanted to, but some memories are best left alone in their sleepy state.

So, yes…despite it being crickets here over the last year (more or less), it was time for a change…and it feels good to see a new site. Still fine tuning things so excuse any weirdness you may see, but it feels nice around here.

Love the refresh!. Even if they come less often, I love reading your words.

My kids stayed up to watch the eclipse, and while watching we discussed the last blood moon eclipse. I told the kids I had no idea if I had seen it and that we did not have social media to remind us of these things. My daughter then asked if we had newspapers or TV in the 80’s … sigh.

My daughter set her alarm to wake up to see the blood moon, which I found funny. Actually, i think i read that the next blood lunar eclipse would be in the year 2033 so that would make it 18 years. I could be wrong. But the thought that I will still be youngish when it comes around again is a much more comforting thought. 🙂

Good to see you back! I recently combed through your holiday posts to get some ideas for things to do in New York – I’m coming for a weekend in December (from Chicago) and cannot wait…being in New York around the holidays has been on my wish list for a long time. It was fun to dig into your blog again…It’s also been crickets on my blog the past year, but I do still enjoy reading them. Maybe you could write a things to do in New York around Christmastime post? 😉

Love the refresh. Our kids jumped right up but it was pretty cloudy for us so they were only able to catch a few glimpses. And then they were really grumpy in the morning for school. 🙂 Super sweet how your daughter got up later and snapped a pic. Kids are sweet.
