Did you see it? The eclipse? I know – old news, but that’s kind of how we’re operating around here these days. We promised the girls we’d wake them up if it was clear enough to see the eclipse since the clouds were threatening our view all day, but when we actually ran back inside to wake them, they weren’t having it. They were asleep like logs. Apparently the kids in school were all talking about it the next day and later, Miss C told me she woke up at 4am, ran to the window and took a photo of the moon with her Kindle and went back to bed. I don’t know why, but I found that so endearing. They’ll have to wait another 30 years to see a blood moon eclipse, which will make them about our age. Ironically, Mark remembers being a kid too, and missing the eclipse because he was dead asleep.
I’ve seen a total lunar eclipse once before during my college years. I was in the middle of nowhere in Canada, camping with a bunch of people. Couldn’t pick it out on a map if I tried. There were a lot of French speaking Canadians, so somewhere near Montreal maybe, or Quebec, and near a river is all I remember. College-era haziness. There are a number of places that remain mysterious like that. Wouldn’t know how to get back to them even if I wanted to, but some memories are best left alone in their sleepy state.
So, yes…despite it being crickets here over the last year (more or less), it was time for a change…and it feels good to see a new site. Still fine tuning things so excuse any weirdness you may see, but it feels nice around here.
