bump in the road

July 22, 2010 |  Category:   life the biz

Do you believe in signs? I think we got a major sign yesterday. Something that was not really surprising and maybe even inevitable, but that still threw us in a tailspin and scrambling. It’s a major bump in the road and things will be different from now on, but it won’t deter us.

I think back to the last time we got a sign 2 years ago. It inspired us to build the business. Good things can come out of bad. Sometimes you get too comfortable and need a swift kick to get going. I’m inspired by my mom and all my friends who take risks with their businesses and operate under daily stress but who push forward with their dreams. Things are becoming clearer.

I believe in signs. I’ve had a few swift kicks myself. They all led to better things. It will be interesting to see where this leads you. Great things, I’m sure. Best of luck!

I definitely believe in signs. This year i think so many of us have seen some big changes and we are all working through it. The big sign for me this year was the design firm having to shut the doors. No fulltime salary, no insurance, no place to go everyday. Things have turned around and we are using this opportunity to change gears and try something new. We are going to make a new state our home, explore new things, meet new people and expand ourselves ( and hopefully not our waist lines)

I don’t believe in signs or fate so much as I believe in learning to accept the inevitable bumps and hindrances in life and using them as catalysts to change paths, to change thinking, to change life.

Onward and upward. Your optimism is inspiring.

I believe in signs 100%, there is a reason and time for everything. and things DO happened for a reason.
It is the bad news, the bad turns, the bad signs, the bad moments that give us more clarity …
    the outcome will be great.
NOTHING, GOOD OR BAD LASTS FOREVER.
Stay positive, we are all cheering for you.

Whatever that sign was, I can literally see the workings in your head spinning! I think Jenna you already know what you need and want to do. It’s just exciting for me to see you spring ahead! I think our parents didn’t out-think their businesses. They just went ahead and plunged. And succeeded! Today’s world is different I know.. but sometimes, you gotta do like they did and plunge in.

Hang in there Jenna. I hope it’s nothing too serious and that you guys find a solution soon. As you said in the post, sometimes a scary change is just the thing to give us a good kick in the pants.

    Wishing you a speedy solution!

The bumps are pretty uncomfortable. I generally think of them as walls and if I push through, there’s usually something amazing on the other side. The wall or bump stops you in your track and forces you to redirect your energy…a necessary part of the journey. Even though it can be overwhelming at the time.

As for signs, I do believe in them, even when they’re silly. Like when I was going to watch “Raising Arizona” the other night and went to add it to my instant queue and it was the suggested movie on my netflix account. I mean out of all the movies in their database? Come on!

Glad things are becoming clearer. Keep on truckin’!

All bumps are to gear us in the right direction and/or make sure we are ready for the change to come. I hope things are going well sending lots of good vibes your way.

I,too believe in signs. i really like how you won’t let things bring you down. I really like how you look up to your mom to not let things get you down, you just work harder… it’s important to know that you can’t be successful if you let one little (or big) thing get you down b/c it can ruin your business. Just like in life, we have ups and downs, so the same will be true about any business, you can pull through anything… your blog always makes you seem like you are a pretty strong person, so don’t let things distract you from your goal. There can be so many reasons for those signs….maybe you need to slow down, take a break…it could be anything. But always remember it won’t be anything you can’t handle and it won’t be forever. 🙂 Even though I don’t comment much,I visit your blog everyday and am cheering you on to be successful in your family life and business life! 🙂 I also wanted to say that I love all of your pics!
