I’d like to be here right now

Claudine keeps saying she wants to go to the beach. Everyday, over and over, ever since the weather has turned milder. I hear ya, kid. There’s something about seeing the horizon and being lulled by the sound and rhythm of waves that can soothe like no other place can. Almost as if you can feel the waves purging whatever is going on in your life as the water goes further out to sea.

I was never such a fan of summer in the past, but I’m looking forward to staring out into the ocean and mountains in the Pacific Northwest again and swimming in the warmer waters here in the East. In 6 weeks we’ll drive down to the Outerbanks, NC to spend 5 days doing nothing but living on the beach. We all want Memorial Day weekend to come, but once again, time – and this year – is flying by and I’d like it to slow down too. Conflicting, yes?

Hi again Jenna! Oh my goodness, I am so with you! Particularly since my son goes to school in Seattle and my husband and I have fallen in love with Seattle as well and dream about moving there. Can you tell me the name of the beach in your photo? Someplace new to visit when we drop him off in September!

I grew up near the sea/beaches, northern NSW in Australia and I’ve spent the last 20 years trying to figure out how to get back there (is so expensive to live there now, like a lot of places). Living in a city just isn’t doing it for me anymore ..

The sea is wonderful. Puts things into perspective and is so calming.

I hope you and your family have a lovely holiday 🙂

@leslie – we haven’t been there before! We will report back.

I’m so jealous! North Carolina is one of my favorite places and my parents are also going down to the Outer Banks in 6 weeks for a wedding.

Please do report back on the Outerbanks…I hear it’s great for kids and we’ve been wanting to take the kids there and to Nantucket (one of my all time favorite places). Since we’re in California we usually end up in Hawaii or Sourthern California for a beach vacay, but we always like to mix it up every once in a while.

While youre at the beach, if you want to get out on the water, get up with http://bestsailingobx.com/. Scooter, the owner is a friend and he’ll make sure you have an amazing time. They’re in Rodanthe. If you do go, tell him Austin and Sheena sent you. We live @ OBX and there is no better way to have fun at the beach than on a sailboat. Enjoy your visit!
