We’re 4 days into summer vacation and we’re all ready to kill each other. JUST KIDDING (maybe. not). No no, so far summer vacation is going fine and the girls and I spent the day Friday at the Met. I’m not gonna lie; the girls were a bit bored walking around parts of the museum, but they did like being on the roof (who doesn’t) and the musical instruments did pique Mia’s interest at least. Their favorite part of the outing was probably lunch at the cafe in the American Wing. The Punk show is worth seeing if you’re in town and visiting the museum this summer, though the exhibition design is a bit contrived with the wall scratchings, graffiti and huge video screens, but that isn’t really surprising (I thought the gift shop employees wearing CBGB shirts were a bit much). The clothes on exhibit, however, were beautiful and the girls walked around silent, taking it all in. I love when their little worlds expand just a tiny bit like that!

Brave momma… taking your youngings to The Met. We will be in the city the first 3 weeks of August and I can’t wait to start taking my two to more cultural spaces. When my oldest was 3 (now 6) we had mommy daughter days at museums and we went to some theater as well but we stopped that a long time ago. This summer in New York will be our summer of culture! I hope!

This is cool! Great photos. I know it gets so hot in Brooklyn in the summer (I have family in Bay Ridge), but I wish I was there! New York is an amazing place… what I wouldn’t give to take my kids to the met! Well, they are too young now, but some day.

Thanks for sharing these photos. Glad you are (mostly) enjoying summer vacation! 🙂

Well I think that sounds like a fabulous day! I was lucky that my boys loved to things like that…they still are fascinated by museums and any cultural type event. However, every summer they begged to go off to camp. I can’t blame them…living in a tent with your friends, swimming in the lake and no mom around.

Hope you all have a wonderful rest of the summer.

The 9 year old is dying to go to sleep away camp. Can’t wrap my head around that yet…and the cost!
