I’m back to being at peace with my light summer schedule again. The other stuff will fall into place. Besides, we’re enjoying the most delicious stretch of summer weather here in NYC, it’s hard to think about much else. Now that summer vacation is officially here and things have slowed down a bit, I’m pretty excited about summer – for all the good friends that we’ll see, for all the places that we’ll travel, for the luxury of time that we’ll steal before the busy Fall season hits in 2 short months. And thank you again for all the emails and comments. Your stories are filled with courage, and you guys also give me the courage to write.
ps. this photo totally has my heart, in ways I can’t even express, for once.
Mia’s so lucky to have her childhood so beautifully captured.
Keep on writing gurrrrl.
What a great little picture it IS. I love the hard masculine qualities of the big wooden door mixed with the soft innocence of little girls. I hope you get to enjoy a little summer time laziness.
Oh, i LOVE salt water sandals…is it weird to wear that as an adult? They’re the most comfortable thing to put your feet in! GO MIA. ๐
Love that picture of Mia and her friend!
Btw I mentioned to my husband that he wasn’t the only one who can’t seem to take a non-fuzzy picture… he wasn’t amused ๐ But it’s true because every time I hand him the camera, it looks like he was jumping up and down while taking the photo!
I adore this! Happy weekend!
i am also taking a summer off, although i don’t work right now, I’m taking time off from scheduling…I remember summers as a kid as maybe one week of camp and not much else. So my girl and I are just doing whatever…and its feeling pretty great! Enjoy yours too!
Aw. That is such a sweet and endearing photo. She’ll be happy to have that when she gets older. And her expression, stance, and just overall look in it makes her look so mature. Really sweet.
We’re starting to get nice stretches of summer weather in Seattle as well (finally!) and I’m really really relishing in the summer months before it goes away soon.
These photos are so dreamy – enjoy your summer Jenna!

That photo of Mia and her friend is gorgeous.
I feel like reading your blog is giving me a peek into what life could be like for me if I continue living here and put down some roots in NYC. Thanks for keeping it real, sharing the challenges, but also capturing all the wonderful things about our city (and borough!).
Where is that!? Is that the Long Island Sound? It looks like this beach on the Northfork that I go to. I love it. Beautiful. My boyfriend is the same. He’s like “Hey!” I took that, I need photo credit. The poor men that have to fulfill are constant photo taking needs. hehe
Wow, that is an amazing picture. You are capturing your daughters’ youth in such an honest and beautiful way – I hope they appreciate that when they get older.
@Nicole, yes..the North Fork. Love it there.
Love all your imagery..yay! Now I have new blog to follow ๐
