We don’t often get asked to make cupcakes and it’s not our specialty given how many cupcake specialists there are out there, but Mark delivered a dozen cupcakes with chocolate and lavender frosting yesterday. There’s something old fashioned about icing the cupcake frosting with a knife instead of piping it with a pastry bag. I like the way it looks.
We’re trying to salvage our Saturday by rethinking our day after our morning plans got sabotaged by a stupid car seat situation. We were all set to drive out to Montclair, NJ to meet up with some twitter/blog friends (Little Brown Pen, Fog & Thistle, Cicada Studio, Design Evolution and Words at Play) when car seat installation problems got in the way. Can you believe that 2 hours later, Mark is still in the car trying to install the damn thing? So instead of having a nice leisurely brunch with the ladies, we’re fighting with the carseat and a couple of rowdy kids. Serious, serious bummer, man.
Your presence was missed! And we’ve all agreed that another gathering is definitely needed.
And I’m a sucker for old-school iced cupcakes. They remind me of elementary school parties.
I am def a fan of spread icing too, I think sometimes piping can just took a bit too fake!
Those cupcakes look (and sound) delicious!
Oh no, the blows. I’m sure you lovely ladies will get together again.
I hope you at least got to lick the icing bowl free of any leftovers. 🙂
We truly missed you Jenna and I could relate to that sort of carseat/travel/frustration saga. My empathy to Mark, poor guy, and the poor girls who didn’t get a day in NJ burbs. But we’ll haul you guys out here another time for certain! xo
Really wish you could have made it. Now we have even more incentive to make plans to get together again soon.
Harsh! At least you had a good time Sunday.
I have such a hard time with our car seat, I’ve declined the use of my car if it means removing it. I’ve also not purchased something at IKEA because it meant removing it. The car seat is king. He stays where he is. No one touches it. Ever.
You were missed! I looked forward to meeting you, but we will certainly have another occasion.
