Everyone was up by 4:30am the first morning (jet lag, yay), so we took an early ferry to the San Juan islands and took a hike by the water to see if we can spot some whales. No whales were to be found, but Mia did climb down some rocks to rummage around for some clams, seaweed and sea urchins. Even Claudine hiked along the trails, though the poor thing threw up each time after both ferry rides. It was freezing and rainy at the end of the day. I saw some kids wearing heavy puffer jackets on the island, good lord.

awww, you guys are making me miss Washington. When I fly back I stay with my parents on Anacortes Island. You probably caught the ferry over to the San Juan Islands from there. So beautiful….
