This is what we did Sunday and this is what we ate. This is also the street fair that Mia got lost in last year (remember that?) so we were extra vigilant in keeping an eye on the girls at all times. I also think this is the first time in many many years where it drizzled, but it kept some of the crowds away in the morning and it was nice to stroll down the street without fighting crowds (the whole bouncy castle/inflatable castle/rainbow slide scene is a whole other story. It resembles a kiddy mosh pit guarded by bouncers, more than ever). But like every year, it was fun and sort of a New York tradition that signals the start of summer. Hey, I even did the stereotypical street fair thing and bought a pair of cheap, knock-off sunglasses, which will not get any use for awhile because it’s supposed to rain all week, gah!
What a nice fotos! I love to see pictures from your city&life. Unlike as usual we also had loads of people in the streets yesterday because Finland won the world championship in icehockey. A from Helsinki.
oh how fun! those hand rolls + corn on the cob look sooo good. 🙂 i love street fairs. reminds me of the ones in japan..i missed those!
The street fair looked fun to explore! I wish there are more fairs like it. I love the picture of Mia with the big bright sunglasses! She is so cute:)
we haven’t had a street fair in the hood yet. i always look forward to the grilled corn. great pics, as always.
What a fun tradition! And the photos are lovely as usual. It’s raining here in San Francisco too! I’m also looking forward to sunglasses weather, although we may not get that here for a while.
I love grilled corn, specially is off the streets. Yes!
such great photos, the watermelon and the corn look fantastic!
The first thing I thought when I saw these picts was “oh I miss shopping for cheap sunglasses at NY street fairs!” And then this morning I bought my daughter a crappy madeleine and found myself nostalgic for the chocolate ones at Balthazar. Yum! Guess it’s time for a NY visit.
What beautiful photos. I love all the colours. And that food looks delicious. 🙂
When I see photos of NYC street fairs, it brings me back to our apartment at 8th Avenue & 52nd Street. There was a street fair almost every other weekend last year.
And I can empathize with all the rain in NYC, the forecast for Toronto is rain all week. So dreary, especially where we live (by the waterfront), so on top of the rain, there is fog, and dark, gloomy clouds all day.
I love the picture of Claudine in the blue sunglasses…such good taste! 🙂
I just realized I’ve been reading you for a year now. (as I remember the fact that you lost Mia).
It’s been a pleasure so far, keep writing 🙂
Great photos. Especially with the overcast skies; the colours are very vivid.
Mia’s hair is really growing! She looks turbo gorgeous with the longer locks.
I LOVE street fairs, enjoying the cheap snacks and desserts. Sadly there’s hardly any here in Dubai especially in this current desert summer heat!
Lovely pics 🙂
Okay, can I just say I want Claudine’s orange sandals that she was wearing in last year’s post pics. So adorable!
