summer’s back for a bit

After a string of cool days, we’re having a little reprise of summer the last 2 days, which is sort of like a little gift depending on whether or not you are ready to jump right into Fall with boots on and leave summer behind for good (I know a lot of women out there are itching to wear boots). I was never a real fan of summer, but I love it more now with kids so even though Fall is my favorite season, I’m a little sad to see summer come to an end. But September? What a delicious month – straddling the seasons between cool and warm…truly great, great weather, and this year, a sense of calm. It makes a big difference to have Mia in school the whole day. Despite my efforts to keep Mia home as long as I could – partly because of finances and partly because I never believed that you needed to shuffle your kids off to school as soon as they turned 2, a practice that sees to be the norm around here – I see the benefits for everyone with full time school. She LOVES it and needs the stimulation, but it also gives us the chance to spend time with Claudine one on one. I think Claudine is enjoying the attention as well. She’ll cuddle next to me while I work and quietly watch what’s happening on screen, she’ll play with her toys by herself with no threat of toy stealing or interruptions, and when she’s tired she’ll say that she is ready for a nap and climb in bed by herself. LOVE.

how nice to be able to have some time alone with the little one. my daughter is in her 2nd year of prek but only from 8:30 – 11am so it doesn’t give me much time for anything. Instead of cleaning house or running errands, I just use the time to hang out with my little buddy who’s almost 2. He loves having mommy all to himself! By the way, a random question. Where do you shop for the girls? You always dress them in the cutest outfits!!
