tagged…yes I know, again.

May 2, 2009 |  Category:   life me

What else could you possibly want to know about me? But this one’s different – it’s not 7 random things and everyone else is playing nice. I might even (*gasp*) tag some people, even at the risk of sounding hypocritical since I swore I would always break the cycle. So…(photo by Lara, btw)…

What’s your current obsession?
Vintage cake stands, platters and other vintage dishware. Also, watching PJ Harvey concert videos on YouTube.

What’s your weirdest obsession?
Making sure Claudine is earwax and booger-free. Ok, I totally get the whole monkey grooming thing.

What are you wearing today?
A shirt with ruffles (huh, I know, right?). Joe’s jeans that are a little too snug even though they’re the same size as my other pair of Joe’s jeans which are a bit loose (what’s up with thaaaat). I always make the mistake of buying jeans a size too large because even though they fit in dressing rooms, they loosen up after a few wears, so I remembered to buy the pair that fit a little too tight this time in the dressing room….but they still fit too tight.

Why is today special?
Going out to dinner without the kids for the first time in a long time. I will wear a dress.

What would you like to learn to do?
Sing, but I really can’t sing, so maybe learn how to sew really well tailored clothes.

What’s the last thing you bought?
A cup of darjeeling tea.

What are you listening to right now?
Mark eating doritos.

What’s your favorite weather?
70 degrees and sunny is good with me. Although my favorite season is Fall. Hmmm, it’s a tossup although I suppose it could be Fall, 70s and sunny.

What’s your most challenging goal right now?
Finding time to work on personal projects. Sleeping before 2am.

What do you think about the person who tagged you?
Rachel? She’s talented of course! And although I have yet to meet her, she seems funny.

If you could have a house totally paid for, fully furnished anywhere in the world, where would you like it to be?
Can I have 2? or 3? One would be here in our neighborhood in Brooklyn, one in Hawaii and the other in Paris.

Favorite vacation spot?
Hawaii and Paris, obviously.

What would you like to have in your hands right now?
A new digital SLR, either the Canon T1i or the Nikon D90.

What would you like to get rid of?
Claudine’s diapers.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
The Kailua-Kona Coast on the Big Island, Hawaii.

Which language do you want to learn?
I suppose I’d have to say Korean since my Korean sucks.

What super power would you like to possess?
I’d like to be a super sponge and be able to learn anything really fast and then be able to do those things really well without having to go through any painful learning curves. Oh, and maybe the ability to slow down or speed up time. Yeah, that might be fun. Or dangerous. Or fun.

What’s your favorite thing about the city you live in?
I don’t like to drive so I like that I don’t have to here in NYC. Plus there’s good food. When I moved out to the NW for awhile, I was really homesick for the food.

What’s your favorite piece of clothing in your own closet?
Not a piece of clothing, but that pair of Loeffler Randall sandals that I scored on final clearance sale a year and half ago. I’m pretty tired of almost everything else in my closet.

What’s your dream job?
I’d like to design home accessories and be a stylist and a photographer.

If you had $150 now what would you spend it on?
A vintage child-sized Bertoia chair from Ebay.

Do you admire anyone’s style?
PJ Harvey for her chameleon ways (seriously, from rocker minidresses with heels to Emily Dickinson-era get ups? A sight to see her singing songs from Dry in lacy high collared blouses and long skirts, but somehow, it works.) I also kinda dig Maggie Gyllenhaal. She lives in the neighborhood and she always looks nice.

Describe your personal style.
It’s ok. I try. I don’t wear crocs or juicy velour sweats or anything like that.

Who’s fashion show would you want tickets to?
Something theatrical like Comme des Garçons, or maybe Eley Kishimoto, Marni, or Ann Demeulemeester.

Who’s closet would you want to raid?
Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, only because I bet she’s got some weird stuff in there.

What are you most proud of?
The girls. They’re pretty great, and even if I weren’t their mom, I’d sill think they were great.

Ooh, thanks for the tag. This is my 2nd one for this particular meme so I’d better get on it! Will get around to it this week.

Great answers. These things can be so insightful.

I must sing you the praises of my Nikon D40. It’s really just the bees knees. I can’t imagine the awesomeness of a D90 *faint* My finace and I argue all the time about his Canon vs. my Nikon.

    i still think mine rules.

What a TREAT to read all of your answers to these questions. I’m sure I could come up with several famous so and so’s whose style is out of this world, but just sitting here with my cup of tea, I can’t think of anyone else’s style I admire more than yours right now.
