This is an old picture of Mark and Mia, way back when Mia was 6 months old, but it sort of sums up how we feel at the end of this day. A big thanks to all who ordered sweets from us today on etsy. And welcome to all who came over from Popgadget (thanks Hoyun for the post today). Our shop is looking a little sad and lonely at the moment because of all the wonderful people who brought sweets today. We didn’t expect such brisk business but it kept us busy most of the day, packing up the goods into boxes and shipping them out of our slow, pokey neighborhood post office. Priority 2-day mail seems to be the cheapest and fastest way to go, but unfortunately both the local branches of our post office is painfully slow – you just have to be prepared to camp out and/or bring along a book. So I now know why shipping costs include shipping AND handling…because it is indeed a lot of work. We worry about the cookies and biscotti arriving in tact, so please let us know how they fared. And marshmallows? Well, they’re so soft and squishy that we joked about using marshmallow scraps as padding material.
In other biz news, Mark went over to a new cafe in our neighborhood today called Root Hill over on 4th and Carroll, and they placed an order on the spot. They’ll be our first wholesale customer and we’ll be delivering packages on Thursday. We’re going to go slow and easy on the wholesale orders for now, but thought it was a good place to start selling our goods because we’re both so new.
And lastly, I do hope you enjoy the sweets – we’ve been talking about them so much here that I hope they don’t disappoint. To be honest, we’ve been taste testing them over the course of many weeks so I feel I can’t objectively taste them anymore (we’re all due for dentist visits too and I’m not looking forward to that). I’m sure I’ll be obsessing over what you guys think while I try and get to sleep tonight, argh.
