the lettuce lover

What kid likes lettuce like it’s a piece of candy? My kid. Seriously, she gets excited over a piece of lettuce like she’s been given a candy bar and one day even talked endlessly about how much she was looking forward to eating her leaf of lettuce during snack time all the way to school. Mia’s even planned that her next birthday party will be a lettuce party which I’m sure will be a real hit with the other kids. Not sure she’s totally envisioned how the party theme will play out, but I see a thrilling “build your own salad” activity in the mix.

i have an acquaintance whose middle name is “lettice” but i always thought it was “lettuce” before seeing it spelled out.

I’ve got one of those, too. Whenever we eat bulgogi, she eats all the lettuce like it’s a big treat.

good lord, why mia, why? Does she at least like it smothered in calorie laden ranch sauce like the rest of us obese Americans? That will be the only saving grace.

You have such a unique and individually thinking daughter. I loved your post on her Halloween costumes and how she deviated from the normal princess/ballerina route.

I simply adore the imagination your daughters have.

Cute. Your kids seem to have a great palette for their age. I think that’s awesome they’ve been introduced to so many fine foods and aren’t picky.

I realize lettuce ain’t exactly exotic or fine, but I’m speaking to other posts this subject.

Your posts frequently make me laugh out loud.
She looks like a little bunny nibbling on her lettuce leaf. I envision the party has a make your own lettuce hat with radishes for decorations.

Love her broad palate and even more her confidence! So many kids who had been everything-eaters start shutting down their adventurous ways of eating as soon as they’re entering preschool. It takes a strong kid to keep the love of lettuce glowing amidst her peers who open lunchboxes with a hearty “yuck!” or make fun at their seat neighbors food choices.
My daughter ate (and tried) everything until she was 3 years old, including tentacle salad, moderately spicy korean food etc. Now she’s still above the all-mac-n-cheese crowd, but it can be pretty challenging to get her to try anything new these days.

My son loves lettuce too. He always asks for a lettuce and pickle sandwich: two pieces of bread, some mayo, lettuce and two pickles. It’s one of the easiest sandwiches to make!

Pema loves lettuce too! She will be happy to know that she is as weird as Mia.

How are the girls doing with sharing a room? P & C share a small room too and they love it. No bunks yet, I’m too afraid the monkeys will fall from the tree.

The astroturf looks nice at that park. We put it in on our little yard too since grass is hard to grow in Australia. Too much sun, too much rain, too much energy. We love our fake grass!

Carolyn, they aren’t in the same room yet. I have to get a bunk bed still and I’m being picky as usual.
