I’m all in favor of the “small movement“, an article I just read on CNN about slowing down and chilling out. Everyone knows that as a culture, Americans work way too much and there’s social pressure to keep up a certain work ethic (2 week paid vacations as a standard?? Oh hell no). Okay, so perhaps I’m not the best example of chilling out and relaxing (a trait which I inherited from my mom who is still a workaholic), but I do make the conscious decision to work from home so I can spend as much time with my family as possible, so that has to count, right?
The article isn’t only about long work weeks but the effort to shift people’s perception away from fast, convenient living – doing more cooking, growing your own food, slowing down the general pace of everyday life. About time, I say. I know it easier said than done (and yeah, we will be working for many many hours tonight, in fact, packing up Father’s Day boxes), but little steps.
