We got one last weekend, and it’s a little scrawny in places, but the girls were really excited when we brought it in and even directed where all the ornaments were to be hung. C was especially particular about where she wanted certain ornaments to go (I mean she is just newly 2 – what in the hell?). When I have a minute, I still need to hang our stockings somewhere (but where, is the big question) and the paper snowflakes that M and I made together last year need to go up as well. the nutcracker and some holiday cheer

Mia, Mark’s mom and I took a break from cookies on Sunday to go see the Nutcracker (an abbreviated, 1 hour kid’s version, staged by the NY Theater Ballet). It was Mia’s first trip to the theater of any kind, and she was excited to say the least. In preparation to going to the ballet, we’ve been listening to the music and reading the book so that she would be familiar with the story that would unfold onstage. She was mesmerized. “Are those people real?”, she asked. And at one point in the middle of the production, a huge grin spread on her face and she said very sheepishly, “I like this!”.
