Fathers Day already?

May 30, 2012 |  Category:   the biz

Poor dads. Nobody gets worked up over Father’s Day like they do for Mother’s Day. This is never more apparent than in the restaurant industry where Mother’s Day reservations are perhaps the busiest in the whole entire year (at least where Mark last worked), but Father’s Day is usually just a typical Sunday. No real upticks on the reservation front. You also see tons of Mother’s Day promotions and gift guides rolling around well in advance of May, but not for Father’s Day.

I guess it isn’t such a surprise then that Mark gets excited about Father’s Day and hopes that we get somewhat similar number of orders as we do Mother’s Day…and last year we did! He was virtually high fiving all of the dads who were about to get gifts from us. So let’s see if we can do it again. For the awesome dads! Some of our most popular cookies and the return of the Chocolate Stout Marshmallow that we bring back yearly just for this holiday, made this year with local beer from Brooklyn Brewery. Order here by June 7th.

The only problem with my dad is that he would gobble up these cookies in 2 seconds without really noticing the difference between something like these or a package a chips ahoy from the store! Such a waste.

I ordered a box! After the shit I gave my husband for not giving me a card or flowers or ANYTHING for Mother’s Day, I better show him how to do it. LOL.

I purchased the gift box for my husband. The packaging is so nice. We broke the package open Monday evening at our family dinner and started with the Hazelnut Whiskey cookie sandwich. My favorite. Brownies, yum. Husband and son have now taken care of the biscotti. I tried the peanut butter curry today … required a lot of fizzy Diet Coke to go along with it. Such an interesting combination, a guy’s taste, I think. A lot of fun, though, to try an artisan twist on a sweets. My kids (22 and 19), my husband, and I thank you for providing the opportunity to try something “out of the ordinary box.” We’ve really enjoyed it! — Michele
