The outdoor season of the Brooklyn Flea begins

Hard to believe that this will be our 6th season at the Brooklyn Flea! But as one of the original Flea vendors on opening day 5 years ago, we still get excited about the season opening every year (and I’m laughing right now because I remember totally hugging the guy who we made our very first sale to). This year we’ll be at Fort Greene on Saturday and Smorgasburg in Dumbo on Sunday. We’ll continue alternating between those 2 markets all season long, so check our website for specific dates.

In other news, we’ve made our market-only Streusel Bars gluten free! This weekend’s flavor is strawberry rhubarb with house-made preserves. Mark will also be making a Spiced White Chocolate drink with coconut, lemongrass, ginger, vanilla, and other spices.

I still sometimes get asked why I don’t sell at any of the markets. It’s simple, really. I pretty much suck at it, but the girls and I do make appearances sometimes (like this Sunday in Dumbo) so if you see us, do say hello.

Looks delicious! I want one, and I want to check out the Brooklyn Flea. I’ve never been to NY. Some day.

I would LOVE to be at a flea market in NY! I would probably be out of my mind…most everything I buy comes from a flea market, estate sale or auction and I bet NY flea markets are a lot better than the ones in Nebraska. 🙂

Your pastries look delicious! just wondering…do you make any vegan pastries?

We don’t unfortunately make any vegan pastries right now. It would require a bit of testing which unfortunately mark doesn’t have the time for at the moment…

Congrats on your 6th season. Such an accomplishment. I must say that spiced white chocolate sipper sounds sooo interesting. I wish I were in NYC so that I could try it.

Wish I was in New York at times like this, especially to try your spiced white chocolate drink, as much as I’d like to a day trip would probably be a bit excessive though!

How long will you be offering the spiced white chocolate drink? I’m planning to go up to NYC during my birthday week in early May. When I saw Mark at Smorgasburg I got really shy when I was buying some cookies and said, “I like your wife’s blog.”

    • Jenna April 7, 2013 at 10:25 am

Probably only this weekend. By then we’ll be switching over to cold drinks. Awww, I totally understand the shy thing though!

You could have done worse: I saw Jenna (presumably) on her way to DUMBO today but I was too shy to say anything!

        Ha! Where?

On your way in, I think, haha. I actually intentionally slowed my pace so you would walk ahead of me, and my friend razzed me for not saying hello 🙂
