the beach in the evening

August 18, 2009 |  Category:   travels

I thought bedtimes were going to totally kick us in the ass, being as the kids were sleeping in a new environment and in bunk beds for the first time. We know what happens when they sleep together on the same mattress at my parent’s house, but surprisingly, they’ve gone to bed all 3 nights without a fuss or a peep. This bodes well for when we transition to bunk beds at home.

As hot as it was during these past few days, the beach cools down after 5 and remains my favorite time of day to go swimming. The light softens, the breeze picks up and the sky transforms into a show of colors as the sun goes down.

How nice that you are finally getting some downtime! It is well deserved!!

Now….are YOU sleeping, Jenna? If you are, then it’s really a vacation!

PS I think that picture of Mia and Claudine holding Mark’s hand might just be the best one ever of the two of them.

PS Just saw my first Richard Serra pieces today and i was researching him and…guess what? His biggest installation is at Storm King! I guess I need to make that trip!

Do you guys have some sort of access to private beach? There doesn’t appear to be anyone around and that seems rare on LI.

  • leen August 19, 2009 at 2:59 am

Your girls are absolutely georgeous! Seeing them together makes me want a have a brother or sister for my girl too 🙂

kribss, these dresses are again from my friend tami over at Ismodern.
Claudia, they do love their havianas, but mia’s is too big (they will fit next year) and Claudine’s is a bit too small, but not too worry – she carries them around with her like dolls. very funny.
Alicia, some of these beaches are residential, but n general, the north fork beaches are not crowded at all.
